Who does not pay variable fees

Variable fees are not paid by:

• nursing homes residents;
• residents who enter a hostel after 1 October 1997;
• pre 1 October 1997 hostel residents not paying a fee as part of a variable fee arrangement immediately prior to that date;
• persons who are assessed as paying more under the new fee structure;
• persons who leave a hostel and re-enter a different facility or the same facility under a new agreement; and
• persons with only income support and no private income.
