Important Notices
Changes from 1 July 2026
Please note that changes to DVA’s legislative framework which are commencing on 1 July 2026 have impacted the information contained in the CLIK libraries.
From 1 July 2026, the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA) and the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA) will close to new claims. The Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA) will become the single ongoing Act providing coverage for veterans, irrespective of service. All compensation and rehabilitation claims made on or after 1 July 2026 will be determined under the MRCA.
Claims received prior to 1 July 2026 will continue to be considered under the legislation which the claim(s) was submitted under. However, entitlements may vary depending on individual circumstances. Note that income support payments under the VEA (including Veteran Payment, Service Pension, Partner Service Pension and Income Support Supplement) will not be impacted following commencement of the new arrangements.
Details regarding the changes, including how veterans that have previously been exclusively covered under the DRCA / VEA could potentially be impacted, will continue to be made available in the lead up to 1 July 2026.
Further guidance is also available on DVA’s Legislation Reform webpage.
