Disability pension treatment in relation to variable fees

Disability pension is included as income in the calculation of variable fees regardless of whether a resident is receiving service pension or age pension.

Therefore pensioners on high rates of disability pension are likely to pay substantially less if they are assessed under the post 1 October 1997 rules.
