C12/1998 AGED CARE REFORMS
ASSESSMENT OF WAR WIDOW/ERS
- Assessment of War Widow/ers pension
War widow/ers pension is generally assessed as income for the purposes of calculating a person's aged care fees. The exception is where a war widow/er is a veteran in his/her own right who has qualifying service.
For self-funded retirees and those on a reduced rate of pension the full amount of war widow/ers pension is generally assessed.
However, for war widow/ers who receive a ceiling rate (generally $120.10 per fortnight) ISS or Centrelink pension, the amount of war widow/ers pension and other income held will be reduced (for fees purposes only).
