Sensorineural Hearing Loss F001
Factors in CCPS as at 28 September 2001 (F001)
- Tuberculosis involving the temporal bone
Date amended:
Sensorineural hearing loss - Tuberculosis involving the temporal bone Factor
Tuberculosis most commonly affects the lungs but tuberculous lesions may also occur in other parts of the body. The temporal bone (os temporale) is one of the two irregular bones forming part of the lateral surfaces and base of the skull and containing the organs of hearing.
If there is a history of tuberculosis but it is not clear whether or not the temporal bone was affected, seek medical advice.
