Leprosy with audiovestibular involvement

This means leprosy (Hansen's disease) which affects any of the following areas:

  • tympanic membranes are the eardrums which separate the outer ear canal from the middle ear, or
  • ear ossicles are the 3 small bones in the middle ear which conduct vibrations from the tympanic membrane to the inner ear. They are called the stapes, incus and malleus, also known as the stirrup, anvil and hammer, or
  • the cochlea is a spirally wound tube, resembling a snail shell which forms part of the inner ear, or
  • the acoustic nerve is the eighth cranial nerve which connects the ear to the brain

Preliminary questions [14411]

14739 there is some evidence that leprosy with audiovestibular involvement may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.

14500 the veteran has suffered from leprosy with audiovestibular involvement at some time.

14433 the veteran has suffered from leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body at some time.

14501  the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and VEA service for sensorineural hearing loss.

14508 the veteran suffered from leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

14502   the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and VEA service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.

14504  the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and operational service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.

or

14505  the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and eligible service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

14509 the veteran suffered from leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

14503   the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and VEA service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.

14506  the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and operational service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.

or

14507  the veteran has established the causal connection between the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement and eligible service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.

Clinical onset and operational service [14504]

14434  the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body is causally related to operational service.

Clinical onset and eligible service [14505]

14510  the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body is causally related to eligible service.

Clinical worsening and operational service [14506]

14434  the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body is causally related to operational service.

14511 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body is causally related.

Clinical worsening and eligible service [14507]

14510  the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body is causally related to eligible service.

14512 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the leprosy with audiovestibular involvement of side and site of the body is causally related.
