Sensorineural hearing loss - Chronic suppurative otitis media Factor

The RMA has defined chronic suppurative otitis media to mean "a recurrent or continuous infective disorder of the middle ear characterised by perforation of the tympanic membrane, aural discharge and hearing loss".  Otitis media should not be confused with otitis externa which is an inflammation of the external ear.

Although otitis media is sometimes a minor complaint, chronic suppurative otitis media would have required medical attention at some time.

Preliminary questions [14408]

14736 there is some evidence that chronic suppurative otitis media may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.

14454 the veteran has suffered from chronic suppurative otitis media at some time.

14455 the veteran has suffered from chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body at some time.

14458  the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and VEA service for sensorineural hearing loss.

14465 the veteran suffered from chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

14459   the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and VEA service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.

14461  the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and operational service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.

or

14462  the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and eligible service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

14466 the veteran suffered from chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

14460   the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and VEA service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.

14463  the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and operational service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.

or

14464  the veteran has established the causal connection between the chronic suppurative otitis media and eligible service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.

Clinical onset and operational service [14461]

14467  chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body is causally related to operational service.

Clinical onset and eligible service [14462]

14468  chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body is causally related to eligible service.

Clinical worsening and operational service [14463]

14467  chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body is causally related to operational service.

14469 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body is causally related.

Clinical worsening and eligible service [14464]

14468  chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body is causally related to eligible service.

14470 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which chronic suppurative otitis media of side and site of the body is causally related.
