Inguinal hernia - Radical retropubic prostatectomy Factor

Three main types of prostate surgery are performed: radical retropubic prostatectomy, radical perineal prostatectomy and radical laparoscopic prostatectomy.

Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy (RRP)

This is the method most often used to remove the prostate. An incision from the navel to the pubic bone is made in the lower abdomen. This approach to radical prostatectomy allows lymph nodes to be removed to determine if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. General anaesthesia is required for this surgery.

This type of surgery is not the same as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) or transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP) where surgery is done via the urethra and only a local anaesthetic is required.

Preliminary questions [35005]

35102 there is some evidence that radical retropubic prostatectomy may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.

35103 the veteran has undergone radical retropubic prostatectomy at some time.

35104 the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy for treatment of an illness or injury which is identifiable.

35105  the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and VEA service for inguinal hernia.

35106   the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and VEA service for the clinical onset of inguinal hernia.

35109  the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and eligible service for the clinical onset of inguinal hernia.

or

35108  the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and operational service for the clinical onset of inguinal hernia.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

35107   the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and VEA service for the clinical worsening of inguinal hernia.

35111  the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and eligible service for the clinical worsening of inguinal hernia.

or

35110  the veteran has established the causal connection between radical retropubic prostatectomy and operational service for the clinical worsening of inguinal hernia.

Clinical onset and operational service [35108]

35112 for treatment of the identified illness or injury, the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

35116  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy, is causally related to operational service.

Clinical onset and eligible service [35109]

35113 for treatment of the identified illness or injury, the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy within the two years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

35117  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy, is causally related to eligible service.

Clinical worsening and operational service [35110]

35114 for treatment of the identified illness or injury, the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

35116  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy, is causally related to operational service.

35118 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy, is causally related.

Clinical worsening and eligible service [35111]

35115 for treatment of the identified illness or injury, the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy within the two years before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

35117  the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy, is causally related to eligible service.

35119 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy, is causally related.
