Inguinal hernia - Increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights Factor

Lifting heavy weights automatically increases intra-abdominal pressure and is a common precursor to the development or worsening of inguinal hernia. All military personnel would at least be exposed to lifting heavy weights during recruit training and fitness maintenance.

Additional information may be found in Physical requirements, duties, and workplace hazards of specific military occupations which contains an embedded hotword, military occupations with heavy lifting component.

Preliminary questions [26063]

26064  the veteran has had increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights at some time.

26065  the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and VEA service for inguinal hernia.

26066   the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and VEA service for the clinical onset of inguinal hernia.

26068  the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and operational service for the clinical onset of inguinal hernia.

or

26069  the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and eligible service for the clinical onset of inguinal hernia.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

26067   the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and VEA service for the clinical worsening of inguinal hernia.

26070  the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and operational service for the clinical worsening of inguinal hernia.

or

26071  the veteran has established the causal connection between the increased intra-abdominal pressure due to lifting heavy weights and eligible service for the clinical worsening of inguinal hernia.

Clinical onset and operational service [26068]

26072 the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26073 on operational service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26074 the lifting of heavy weights on operational service, which resulted in the presence of increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

Clinical onset and eligible service [26069]

26075 the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26076 on eligible service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26077 as a causal result of eligible service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

26078 the lifting of heavy weights on eligible service, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

Clinical worsening and operational service [26070]

26646 the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26079 on operational service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26080 as a causal result of operational service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26082 the lifting of heavy weights on operational service, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the thirty days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

Clinical worsening and eligible service [26071]

26647 the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26648 on eligible service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26083 as a causal result of eligible service, the veteran lifted heavy weights, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.

26084 the lifting of heavy weights on eligible service, which resulted in increased intra-abdominal pressure, within the three days before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.
