Asthma - Exposure to an antigenic or nonantigenic stimulus Factor

Exposure to an antigenic stimulus or nonantigenic stimulus can aggravate asthma.  Many of these stimuli (particularly nonantigenic stimuli) are very common events which everybody experiences, however, it is only necessary to examine the events which occurred in the 24 hours preceding a permanent aggravation of asthma.

PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS [19091]

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

19105  the veteran has been exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus at some time.

18063  the veteran has established the causal connection between the exposure to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus and VEA service for the clinical worsening of asthma.

18066   the veteran has established the causal connection between the exposure to an antigenic and non-antigenic stimulus and operational service for the clinical worsening of asthma.

or

18067   the veteran has established the causal connection between the exposure to an antigenic and non-antigenic stimulus and eligible service for the clinical worsening of asthma.

CLINICAL WORSENING AND OPERATIONAL SERVICE [18066]

1866     the clinical worsening of asthma occurred on operational service.

18873 the veteran was exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, on operational service.

18874 the veteran was exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, on operational service, as a causal result of operational service duties.

18875 the exposure to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, on operational service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

or

3922     the veteran has ever smoked.

19275 the veteran smoked tobacco within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma.

19278 the veteran smoked tobacco within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, as a causal result of a smoking habit related to operational service.

19279 the clinical onset of asthma occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the smoking habit is causally related.

or

19097 within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, the veteran was exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus because of an illness or injury which is identifiable.

19098  the identified illness or injury, which caused the veteran to be exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus, is causally related to operational service.

19099 the clinical onset of asthma occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury that caused the veteran to be exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus is causally related.

CLINICAL WORSENING AND ELIGIBLE SERVICE [18067]

19096 the clinical worsening of asthma occurred on eligible service.

18880 the veteran was exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma on eligible service.

18881 the veteran was exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma on eligible service, as a causal result of eligible service duties.

18882 the exposure to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, on eligible service was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

or

3922     the veteran has ever smoked.

19275 the veteran smoked tobacco within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma.

19280 the veteran smoked tobacco within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, as a causal result of a smoking habit related to eligible service.

19281 the clinical onset of asthma occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the smoking habit is causally related.

or

19097 within the 24 hours before the clinical worsening of asthma, the veteran was exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus because of an illness or injury which is identifiable.

19101  the identified illness or injury, which caused the veteran to be exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus, is causally related to eligible service.

19102 the clinical onset of asthma occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury that caused the veteran to be exposed to an antigenic or non-antigenic stimulus is causally related.
