A claim for benefits under MRCAETS can be made by:
- the member or former member
- the dependant (over 16 years of age) of the member or former member
- another member on behalf of the member or former member (as approved by the member, former member, or dependant)
- a person approved by the Commission in the case where the veteran or dependant is physically or mentally incapable of claiming.
Where a dependant is under the age of 16, as claim can be made by the dependant's parent or guardian, a person approved by the parent or guardian, or a person approved by the Commission where there is no other person to make the application.
