2.2.2 Who can make a claim under MRCAETS? (see 2.3 of Instrument)

A claim for benefits under MRCAETS can be made by:

  • the member or former member
  • the dependant (over 16 years of age) of the member or former member
  • another member on behalf of the member or former member (as approved by the member, former member, or dependant)
  • a person approved by the Commission in the case where the veteran or dependant is physically or mentally incapable of claiming.

Where a dependant is under the age of 16, as claim can be made by the dependant's parent or guardian, a person approved by the parent or guardian, or a person approved by the Commission where there is no other person to make the application.
