there is some evidence that the veteran has suffered from a severe psychosocial stressor, which may be a factor in the veteran's attempt at or commission of suicide.18832 the veteran has suffered from a severe psychosocial stressor at some time.
20491 — the veteran has established the causal connection between the severe psychosocial stressor and VEA service for suicide or attempted suicide.
20492 — the veteran has established the causal connection between the severe psychosocial stressor and operational service for suicide or attempted suicide.

Clinical onset and operational service [20492]
the veteran experienced a severe psychosocial stressor within two years immediately before the veteran attempted or committed suicide. on operational service, the veteran experienced a severe psychosocial stressor within two years immediately before the veteran attempted or committed suicide. the severe psychosocial stressor on operational service which the veteran experienced within two years immediately before the veteran attempted or committed suicide was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.or
the veteran experienced a severe psychosocial stressor as a result of an illness or injury which is identifiable. as a consequence of an illness or injury which is identifiable, the veteran experienced a severe psychosocial stressor within two years immediately before the veteran attempted or committed suicide.23723 — the identified illness or injury, which caused the severe psychosocial stressor, is causally related to operational service.
