Depressive disorder - A drug in specified list 2 Factor

The RMA has defined a drug in Specified List 2 as:

(a)           amantadine;

(b)           clozapine;

(c)           cocaine;

(d)           depot medroxyprogesterone acetate;

(e)           digoxin;

(f)            fluphenazine;

(g)           fluspirilene;

(h)           hydralazine;

(i)            interleukin-2;

(j)            isocarboxazid;

(k)           levodopa;

(l)            marijuana;

(m)          mefloquine;

(n)           phencyclidine;

(o)           reserpine;

(p)           rimonabant; or

(q)           thiazide;

As a cause of depressive disorder, this SOP factor applies only for substance-induced mood disorder with depressive features.  As an aggravating factor, it applies to all types of depressive disorder.

The SOP factor requires:

taking a drug in specified List 2, within the one month before the clinical onset/worsening of depressive disorder.

The psychiatric report that conforms with the Repatriation Commission Guidelines for Psychiatric Compensation Claims will include history of any drugs taken in the month before onset or worsening of depressive disorder.

Preliminary questions [39696]

39703 there is some evidence that taking a drug in specified list 2 may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.

39762  the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and VEA service for depressive disorder.

39677   the condition under consideration is substance-induced mood disorder with depressive features.

39769 the veteran took a drug in specified list 2 within the one month before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

39763   the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and VEA service for the clinical onset of depressive disorder.

39765  the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and operational service for the clinical onset of depressive disorder.

or

39766  the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and eligible service for the clinical onset of depressive disorder.

or

7334     the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.

7335     the condition under consideration permanently worsened.

39770 the veteran took a drug in specified list 2 after the clinical onset of the condition under consideration and within the one month before its clinical worsening.

39764   the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and VEA service for the clinical worsening of depressive disorder.

39767  the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and operational service for the clinical worsening of depressive disorder.

or

39768  the veteran has established the causal connection between taking a drug in specified list 2 and eligible service for the clinical worsening of depressive disorder.

Clinical onset and operational service [39765]

39771 the veteran took a drug in specified list 2 within the one month before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration as a causal result of operational service.

39775 the veteran's taking of a drug in specified list 2 within the one month before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration, which was caused by operational service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

Clinical onset and eligible service [39766]

39772 the veteran took a drug in specified list 2 within the one month before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration as a causal result of eligible service.

39776 the veteran's taking of a drug in specified list 2 within the one month before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration, which was caused by eligible service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

Clinical worsening and operational service [39767]

39773 the veteran took a drug in specified list 2 after the clinical onset of the condition under consideration and within the one month before its clinical worsening as a causal result of operational service.

39777 the veteran's taking of a drug in specified list 2 after the clinical onset of the condition under consideration and within the one month before its clinical worsening, which was caused by operational service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.

Clinical worsening and eligible service [39768]

39774 the veteran took a drug in specified list 2 after the clinical onset of the condition under consideration and within the one month before its clinical worsening as a causal result of eligible service.

39778 the veteran's taking of a drug in specified list 2 after the clinical onset of the condition under consideration and within the one month before its clinical worsening, which was caused by eligible service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.
