Although the Malayan Emergency was officially declared ended on 31 July 1960 security operations against Communist Terrorists (CTs) continued to be conducted along the Malay/Thai border. Between 1960 and 1964, 1RAR, 2RAR and 3RAR were engaged in operations designed to intercept CTs operating in the border area.
