Australian Federal Police - Service Records

Members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) may have eligibility under the Veterans' Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA) as a member of a peacekeeping force listed in VEA Schedule 3, or through a declaration of non-warlike service.  Service records for the AFP may be obtained from AFP Headquarters in Canberra.  The requests should contain as much information as possible which may assist in identifying the individual.  As a minimum, full name, date of birth, place of service and approximate time of service should be included.

Note that where the service was undertaken in East Timor the request for confirmation must include a specific request that the AFP declare that the member actually served in East Timor.  This is because the AFP counts its area of operations as including Darwin.  AFP members who served only in Darwin are not eligible for cover under the VEA.

The email address for AFP service records is peoplecentre@afp.gov.au.

Requests for records can be emailed, along with the relevant authority from the veteran, to this address.

If it is necessary to make contact by phone, the number for the relevant area of the AFP is: (02) 5127 1120
