Pterygium - Heavy exposure of the affected eye to dust Factor
The RMA has defined this to mean "exposure of the affected eye to dust in an environment where the person is covered in dust and is without eye protection".
Environments likely to contain large amounts of dust include desert areas, rural areas and industries such as saw milling, baking, coal mining and farming. Information about the nature and scope of various service occupations is contained in Physical requirements, duties, and workplace hazards of specific military occupations.
