Internal derangement of the knee - Inability to obtain appropriate clinical management for internal derangement of the knee Factor

Appropriate clinical management for internal derangement of the knee might include:

  • physiotherapy: to improve mobility and strength
  • restrictions on certain activities that might re-injure the knee, or
  • the use of aids and supports, such as a cane, crutches or walker, and
  • management of pain with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, such as ibuprofen or voltaren.

If it is clinically indicated, appropriate clinical management may also include surgery, for example arthroscopy, or knee re-construction.
