An assessment by a Driver-Trained Occupational Therapist (OT) is evidence for a delegate when determining the amount of compensation (if any) to be provided under the Scheme.
A directory of approved program providers is provided on the Comcare website.
The Driver Trained OT is asked to advise on:
The person’s impairment;
Whether the person can drive or be transported in a motor vehicle without driving or other modifications;
The extent to which the person is independently mobile;
The extent to which to the person requires assistance from another person to be mobile;
All means of transport reasonably available to the person at their usual residence; and
Identifying the kinds of modifications or vehicle features or kind of motor vehicle (as the case requires) to meet the person’s mobility needs
Delegates should only seek/accept advice on these fields as they are set out in the instrument. A delegate is required to consider all matters relevant to the application, including, but not limited to, advice from the Driver Trained OT when making their determination.
