Claims of this nature do occasionally arise from exposure to radiation from British nuclear tests in Australia.
Part of the investigation process should include checking:

the employee's Commonwealth employment/service and other employment details;

exposure details, such as areas visited, dates, duties and whether protective clothing or dosimeters were worn;

the medical condition being claimed; and
-
medical evidence from treating doctor/s.
The general criteria for liability are:

probable exposure to radiation; and
-
disease/death probably caused by radiation exposure; or
-
disease/death probably arising from test circumstances.
