Volume 5 of the Operations Manual deals with the basic information required to determine more complex claims.  Claims in this category are mainly indicated by the:

  • type of injury being claimed, more predominantly diseases;

  • need for rehabilitation;

  • need for more comprehensive claim management; and

  • expected or actual cost and duration of the claim.

To assist in understanding how more complex claims are dealt with in Comcare, this volume provides information on:

  • how the SRC Act 1988 provides a basis for decisions that are made; and

  • the many operational and case law issues that must be considered when making decisions.

Additionally, information will be provided about the various types of claims that fall into the 'complex' category.
