Period of conflict
For qualifying and operational service to be recognised in the Korean hostilities, a person must have served during the period 27 June 1950 to 19 April 1956 (both dates included).
Service in the demilitarised zone after 1956 is recognised as operational service but not qualifying service.More ?
The operational area for the Korean hostilities was:
- the area of Korea, including the waters contiguous for a distance of 185 kilometres seaward from the coast, and
- the Demilitarised Zone between North and South Korea from 19 April 1956. More ?

An operational area is an area specified in Column 1 for the period specified in Column 2 of Schedule 2 of the VEA to which a unit or individual have been allotted or deemed allotted for duty.
