The Void Process

Voiding incapacity involves a couple of 'rules' and sometimes use of both 'AVID' (Void Incapacity Determination) and 'AIND' (Amend Incapacity Determination) functions.

The first thing to understand is that the void process can only be used where payment or part payment of a period of incapacity has occurred.

Part payment of a period of incapacity only occurs where the determination is recurring.

There are two reasons why incapacity would need to be voided.  Either:

• the determination should not have been issued; or

• the period should have been for a different amount or date.
