There are two broad types of payments from PRACSYS - incapacity and non-incapacity. Payments are made by cheque and cheque runs occur once a week, on Wednesday nights.
The most common payments made to employers are incapacity reimbursements. For current employees, any periods of determined incapacity are paid by the employer and later reimbursed by Comcare.
Employers may choose to receive their reimbursement cheques on a weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly or monthly basis. The majority of employers are paid fortnightly.
The cheque runs occur in a fairly simple manner. PRACSYS looks for any verified, unpaid claim invoices and sorts them for payment according to the structures set up within the employing agency. Any active, outstanding repayments are picked up at the same time.
Incapacity determinations can be paid as either once-off or recurring. A once-off payment means the total of the determination will be paid in the next cheque run. For employer payments, there are no restrictions making determinations and therefore payments, into the future.
Recurring payments are the preferred option for payments into the future. This option means a claim invoice is produced every 2 weeks against the determination and picked up for payment. Employers receive their money in a series of payments and Comcare's cash flow is better managed.
