Household services are defined by section 4 of the Act as “services of a domestic nature (including cooking, house cleaning, laundry and gardening services) that are required for the proper running and maintenance of the employee's household”.

For payment of such services to be made under section 29, it must be demonstrated that an employee reasonably requires such services.  Section 29 (1) of the Act states in part:

“ ... as a result of an injury to an employee, the employee obtains household services that he or she reasonably requires ...”.
