The Comcare Australia Redeployment Kit for Case Managers contains information and strategies to assist case managers achieve a successful return to work outcome through the redeployment of injured workers.

Description:

The Redeployment Kit for Case Managers has been developed to achieve quicker and more effective redeployment outcomes in the Commonwealth APS. The Kit uses case studies and examples drawn from pilot redeployment programs to illustrate optional strategies, and provides information on the following –

  •    how to obtain more precise information about the work capabilities of injured workers

  •    how to establish functional and vocational capacities of injured workers through work trials and job design

  •    how to use incentives to maximise participation and commitment by employer and injured employee

  •    the role of key stakeholders in the redeployment process

  •    employment options for injured workers

  •    the use of work trials to maximise the chance of permanent placement on the basis of merit

  •    how to empower injured workers to achieve their own successful outcomes through the return to work process.

The Redeployment Kit is divided into ten modules:

Module 3     Work preparation – general introduction

Module 4     Work preparation – job finding

Module 5     Work preparation – job design

Module 6     Work trials – consolidation of work skills

Module 7     Permanent placement

Module 8     Case studies

Module 9     ACT pilot project results

Module 10   Invalidity retirement and superannuation.

Case managers and others involved in the redeployment of injured workers as part of a rehabilitation program, such as approved service providers and human resource practitioners.

The recommended national price is $50.

States can produce these locally, by the following process –

(a)  print contents from disc held by all Rehabilitation Managers.

(b)  obtain printed folders from Rehab Policy Unit. (see above)

Printed folders will be charged to states at $10 ea. incl delivery.
