ISH - Objectives

As part of addressing DVA's goal of improving the efficiency of DVA's internal operations and interactions CMVS was to design and deliver the Integrated Support Hub (ISH) to:

  • Accept and process electronically lodged data or documents online
  • Register, manage or print claims and requests received
  • Report on online claims and requests lodged or registered

Online Claiming - user comments

"[CMVS] created a sense of whole-of-person for DVA business areas that are not client centric".

David Goldrick - Director Rehabilitation & External Liaison - R&C

Comments from Online Single Claim users

"I was amazed as how simple and easy it is to use, there are changes that needed to be done to complete the lodgement of the claim but for the first claim lodged it went without a hiccup."

Online claiming - objectives

The online claiming project contributes to two key DVA objectives:

  • Improve timeliness and processing efficiency by delivering the capacity to lodge and process claims and supporting documents online
  • Reduce confusion over complex eligibility requirements by delivering the Online Single Claim for rehabilitation and compensation.

Key achievements

Since implementation 3,089 claims have been lodged online.

A new ICT project approach

CMVS demonstrated a different approach to delivering ICT solutions that leveraged technology to achieve a client usability focus.

The CMVS Program and Project managers were co-located and worked closely with DVA ICT and business stakeholders through a Program Board and individual Release Boards for each six monthly release.  The Program Board oversaw strategy and objectives. Release Boards focused on the scope and solution for each release.
