Relevance of this question
The date of assessment is required for the application of the minimum earning rules under s 19(6) where the ability to earn figure is greater than $0.00.
The date of assessment is used to differentiate between old investigations that may need to be reviewed and new investigations which will solely use the new policy approach.
The policy in relation to the application of minimum earnings changed with the release of Defence Compensation Instruction 39 (DCI 39) and LIM403.
Previously Saved investigations
If the investigation has been previously saved, enter a date of assessment prior to the 30 November 1998. This will ensure that a warning is displayed on the Summary screen if the change in policy may have affected the outcome of the investigation.
New investigations
If the investigation is a new investigation, use the current date for the date of assessment. In this situation, the module will not compare the old and new amounts and no warnings will be displayed on the Summary screen.
