On-line diaries assist with day to day management of workloads. It is as simple as that. If they are being correctly used, diaries should be incorporated into daily work practices, ideally when first logging onto PRACSYS each morning.
Diaries should be viewed as being helpful prompts or reminders to do things. They are there to ensure certain activities are completed, and may be associated with claims or non work-related issues.
It is very important to become familiar with how diaries work, to be able to manage and delete them as necessary. If this does not occur, and nothing is done with diaries, they will not only stay, but will become more difficult to defer over time.
After a while, they cannot be deferred any longer, and will sit there as an ongoing reminder of what is yet to be completed.
As with all things unfamiliar, once it is understood how diaries work, they can be used the way they were intended - to help.
