“The degree of permanent impairment shall be expressed as a percentage.”
A determination under section 24 is a final assessment of the degree of permanent impairment.
Comcare determines the degree or percentage of impairment and the amount of compensation payable. That is, the respective claims manager, not the examining doctor or specialist.
In cases of multiple impairment, the total amount payable cannot exceed the statutory maximum rate applicable at the date of permanence. When looking at the Guide, the 'Combined Values Table' must be considered. This limits the maximum assessment for multiple impairments resulting from the one injury to 100%.
