When advised of the death of a claimant, it is first necessary to record the date of death on PRACSYS (ACLM.CM), to stop any further payments being made.  The system will automatically create the transactions necessary to send to DoF to implement the change.  PRACSYS will also examine any incapacity determinations which span the date of death.  Any existing determinations must be voided, the date of death entered and corrected determinations then entered.

If the claimant has received an overpayment, it will also be necessary to initiate recovery action.  Refer section 5.70 of the overpayments manual for overpayment recovery procedures in relation to deceased estates.  If the deceased is entitled to further payments, special procedures apply.  Refer section 4 for further details.
