DVA Public Hospitals Team and state Departments of Health staff will soon receive new computer systems to manage changes to the Public Hospital Services Arrangements.

Late in 2015 the Public Hospital Services Arrangements between Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) and State Departments of Health will change.

State Departments of Health currently provide DVA with activity data on hospital services for members of the Veteran community. The methods for providing the data, and payment, pricing negotiation and models are different for each jurisdiction. This creates complex administration for both DVA and the state Departments of Health.

From late 2015 the Government will address this by implementing uniform national purchasing arrangements. Payments for hospital based activity will be made using the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA). State data and payments will be submitted using a new DVA HOTSPUR Portal. DVA staff will manage data, payments and agreements using the new HOTSPUR 2.0.
