2.7.5 When a person may be deemed with an ability to earn
Some of the typical circumstances where a person may be deemed with an ability to earn can include:
1. Where a person is in the job seeking phase of their rehabilitation program and not genuinely seeking employment.
2. Where a person is medically cleared to work a certain number of hours per week but chooses to work a lesser amount of hours.
9.8.6 Chapter 3 - Impairment of Spine and Limbs
Chapter 3 of the GARPS
The tables in Chapter 3 of the GARPs are used to assess the motor function of the spine and limbs. Sensory loss is assessed under Chapter 5. Assessments of service-related spine conditions under Chapter 3 involve more than just an assessment of the spine function and in many cases, will involve an assessment of lower limb function.
8.1.4 Coverage of war artists and entertainers - s5(6)
Under subsection 5(6) of the SRCA, the Minister for Employment can declare that persons who engage in activities or perform on behalf of the Commonwealth are covered under the SRCA.
In December 2015, the Minister for Employment issued the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Definition of Employee - War artists and Entertainers) Notice 2015 with effect from 17 December 2015. From this date, war artists and entertainers who support the ADF on operations are covered under the SRCA.
6.5.1 Brief intervention counselling to assist with adjustment to disability or injury and/or pain management
A disability or injury can result in a range of challenges and changes in a person’s life. These changes may include barriers to a person being able to reach their rehabilitation goals. Therefore, early intervention through counselling to assist the individual to adjust to the disability or injury or to ongoing pain can provide skills and strategies to equip a person to more effectively manage issues as they arise.

As soon as practicable after 30 June each year each Board shall submit a statistical return for inclusion in the Commission’s annual report. A Board in a State may combine its statistical return with a statistical return of the Board in that State.

VCES and MRCAETS Board members, DVA staff and third party service providers, including tutors engaged by parents and paid by DVA, are required to obtain and maintain a current Working with Children Check, as their usual duties may involve, or are likely to involve, contact with children in the form of providing a counselling or other support service. Student Start-up Scholarships are normally indexed annually on 1 January by CPI.
Relocation Scholarships are indexed annually on 1 January by CPI.

Generally, payment of the Student Start-up and Relocation Scholarships will be made in February each year depending on when the study commenced. The second six monthly Student Start-up Scholarship will be made in July each year.
