Example One - Lumbar Spondylosis (lifting loads while bearing weight)
Scenario:
The client has Army service from 1 July 2005 to 31 December 2009. Within this period they have Warlike service in Afghanistan from 5 April 2007 to 10 October 2007. Lumbar Spondylosis was diagnosed on 15 January 2015.
The following steps should be followed when investigating a psychiatric claim for STP eligibility:
‘Straight Through Processing’ (STP) is where an eligible Australian Defence Force client’s profile and details of service can be used as evidence of meeting the specified Statement of Principles factor for a particular condition without the need for further investigation.
The Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (MRCC) and Repatriation Commission (RC) approved the STP policy to allow delegates to simplify the investigation and decision making process for claims that meet certain criteria under the MRCA and the VEA.
