as amended by 74 & 75 of '98

  • There has been a simplification of the alcohol factor.  A reference to prolonged and heavy consumption is no longer included.  A dose of 180 kg of alcohol is now a requirement – previously it was one option.

Gout

Amendment – 43 & 44 of '03

Amends 11 and 12 of '00

Malignant neoplasm of the endometrium

Amendment – 45 & 46 of '03

Amends 129 and 130 of '95

as amended by 183 & 184 of '96

Plantar fasciitis

Amendment – 47 & 48 of '03

Amends 3 and 4 of '00

  • In the definition of “being obese” the reference to the RMA's “statement about the causes of being obese” has been removed.  This is a housekeeping measure after the issue of the morbid obesity SOP and the RMA declaration that obesity is not a disease.
  • There are four remaining SOPs where the reference to the statement about the causes of being obese remains.  These SOPs are each the subject of an RMA investigation.  The reference will be removed in each SOP once the investigation is finalised and a replacement SOP issued.  The four SOPs are ischaemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, malignant neoplasm of the breast and sleep apnoea.

Sudden unexplained death

Amendment – 49 & 50 of '03

Amends 99 and 100 of '96

as amended by 185 & 186 of '96 and 18 & 19 of '02

  • The previous factor covering being morbidly obese has been replaced by one specifying a body mass index (of ≥35).  This change has no operational effect and is again a housekeeping measure after the issue of the morbid obesity SOP.
