A form of pension that prior to 6 June 1985 was granted to the wife or dependent child of a veteran to compensate those dependants for the possible effects of the veteran's war-caused disablement.

From 6 June 1985, there have been no new grants of dependant's pensions.  Those dependant's pensions in payment on 5 June 1985 have been frozen at the rate payable on that day for so long as the person continues to be entitled to the pension.

On 24 September 2009 the dependant pension was commuted to a one–off lump sum payment equal to the amount that would have been paid over the following three years, and the ongoing pension was cancelled.
