RELEASE NOTES - CCPS VERSION 2005/10

Version 2005/10 of the Medical Knowledge Base for CCPS was released into production today.  This Bulletin provides a summary of the new and amended SOPs that this version of CCPS incorporates.  This Bulletin also details changes to some existing rulebases and commentary.

New SOPs incorporated into CCPS

Asbestosis

The new respirable asbestos fibres factors are now incorporated.

Erectile dysfunction

There are a large number of factors in these SoPs and where possible factors have been combined. If a particular contention can not be found outright then check the following contentions to see if it has been combined:

  • A specified disease for erectile dysfunction
  • Specified endocrinological disorder for erectile dysfunction
  • Other neurological disorder for erectile dysfunction
  • Treatment with a drug from the specified lists

Malignant neoplasm of the oral cavity, oropharynx and hypopharynx

This SoP has a very long title and the diagnostic label in CCPS should be edited to refer only to the site relevant to the veteran.

Enhancements of CCPS rulebases and commentary

Kattenberg changes have also been made to the following conditions and the factors specified:

  • Acute lymphoid leukaemia (atomic radiation)
  • Acute myeloid leukaemia (smoking, ionising radiation, benzene, AVGAS)
  • Chronic myeloid leukaemia (smoking, atomic radiation)
  • Cirrhosis of the liver (carbon tetrachloride, methotrexate, vitamin A)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the brain (atomic radiation)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the breast (oral contraceptives)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the lip epithelium (smoking)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the liver (smoking, exposure to aflatoxins)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the nasopharynx (wood dust, smoking)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the oesophagus (smoking)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the pancreas (smoking, DDT)
  • Malignant neoplasm of the stomach (smoking, atomic radiation)
  • Morbid obesity (excessive caloric intake)
  • Multiple sclerosis (organic solvents)
  • Soft tissue sarcoma (herbicide, chlorophenol, atomic radiation)
  • Subarachnoid haemorrhage (smoking, aspirin)

Continuous Improvement

Changes to the following incorporated conditions are included in this release. However, there are no noteworthy CCPS features:

  • Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Sensori-neural hearing loss and tinnitus
  • Morbid obesity
