MALIGNANT NEOPLASM OF THE BILE DUCT |
Revocation - 34 & 35 of 1999 (replaces Cholangiocarcinoma - 39 & 40 of 1995) |
This re-named SOP covers the disease that was previously covered by the Cholangiocarcinoma SOP as well as now covering malignant neoplasms arising in the ampulla of Vater and the cystic duct. ICD code 156.2 is therefore now included
The ICD codes 156.8 and 156.9 are no longer included because they refer to malignancies in unspecified bile duct sites.
The SOP contains four new factors in addition to those that were in the Cholangiocarcinoma SOP.
The new factors (c) and (d) refer to conditions that are covered by other SOPs (i.e. they propagate to the SOPs for Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Cholelithiasis, respectively).
MALIGNANT NEOPLASM OF THE BRAIN |

The Title of this SOP has been changed to the same format as the other Malignant Neoplasm SOPs by deleting the word “Primary”.
The factors which applied to 'malignant glioma only' in the previous SOP now apply to all malignant neoplasms of the brain as covered by the SOP definition.
The reference to 'malignant lymphoma of the brain only' in the previous SOP has been removed because that condition is covered by the Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma SOP.
MALIGNANT NEOPLASM OF THE GALLBLADDER |
Revocation - 36 & 37 of 1999 (replaces 31 & 32 of 1995) |
This SOP contains three new factors in addition to those that were in the previous SOP.
The new factor (a) refers to the SOP condition “Cholelithiasis” and it is intended that it propagate to that SOP.
The requirement to have a 20-year history of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (factor (a) in the previous SOP) has been removed. The equivalent factor in the new SOP is factor (d) and suffering from chronic inflammatory bowel disease at any time and for any period before the clinical onset of malignant neoplasm of the gallbladder is all that is now required.
ISCHAEMIC HEART DISEASE |

The smoking factors (e), (f), (v) and (w) have been re-worded to clearly distinguish between those veterans who were current smokers at the time of clinical onset of Ischaemic Heart Disease and those veterans who had ceased smoking prior to that time. The various consumption levels are unchanged.
The term “ moderate or vigorous ” in the factor dealing with an inability to undertake a certain level of physical activity has been replaced with the term “ a mildly strenuous level of “. The actual level of activity (i.e. 3 METS) proscribed in the associated definition is unchanged. This wording change to the factor was made to avoid a conflict with wording used in GARP to describe the activity level of 3 METS.
The wording of the clinical worsening factor dealing with “suffering from panic disorder or phobic anxiety with panic attack” (factor (zd) in the new SOP) has been altered to stress the RMA's intention that the particular form of clinical worsening that must be present in order for this factor to apply, is “myocardial infarction or arrhythmia with ECG evidence of myocardial ischaemia”.
RENAL ARTERY ATHEROSCLEROTIC DISEASE BOP SOP only |

The only change that has been made to this SOP is to the ICD code in order to correct an error which occurred in the previous amending BOP Instrument (51 of 1998). The code in that Instrument was 400.1 when it should have read 440.1.
