Malignant Neoplasm of the Rectum

Malignant Neoplasm of the Colon

CHANGES

All these amended SOPs contain new definitions

The sensorineural hearing loss definition now includes hearing loss at 1500 and 3000 Hz.

The gastrointestinal tract malignant neoplasm SOP definitions are now in a uniform format.  Each new definition now:

  • excludes soft tissue sarcoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and Hodgkin's disease (these conditions each have their own SOPs); and
  • defines where the relevant section of the gastrointestinal tract starts and finishes.

In addition, each of these SOPs (except small intestine) contains a note detailing what to do if a cancer arises on or close to the junction between each section of the gastrointestinal tract.

Factor changes

Malignant Neoplasm of the Oesophagus:  Factor 5(a), that previously related to squamous cell carcinoma only, now covers both squamous cell and undifferentiated carcinoma.

Other minor wording changes

Sensorineural Hearing Loss:   a minor wording error has been corrected in a factor definition with:

“being treated with a drug in the Schedule” means therapeutic administration of the drug;

'Schedule' means:

replaced by:

“being treated with a drug identified in the Schedule” means therapeutic administration of one of the following drugs;

Malignant Neoplasm of the Rectum/Colon:  in the smoking factors the word “were” has been replaced by “was”.
