Preliminary questions [11424]

23515 [1] there is some evidence that a course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck may be a factor in the development of the condition under consideration.

11429 [1] the veteran has undergone a course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck at some time.

11431 [2] the veteran underwent a course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck for treatment of an illness or injury which is identifiable.

11433 — the veteran has established the causal connection between the course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck and VEA service for the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

11437 — the veteran has established the causal connection between the course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck and eligible service for the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

or

11436 — the veteran has established the causal connection between the course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck and operational service for the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

Clinical onset and operational service [11436]

where the veteran underwent a course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck for treatment of the identified illness or injury, the first exposure to therapeutic radiation occurred at least two years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.

11438 — the identified illness or injury for which the course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck was undergone is causally related to operational service. [4] [5]

Clinical onset and eligible service [11437]

where the veteran underwent a course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck for treatment of the identified illness or injury, the first exposure to the therapeutic radiation occurred at least five years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration. [7]

11439 — the identified illness or injury for which the course of therapeutic radiation to the head or neck was undergone is causally related to eligible service. [8] [5]
