5.3.4 Skin Disorders - Table 4

Document
Clients with facial disfigurments

Where a client has a facial disfigurement, they should be assessed with a rating under both table 4.1 and 4.2. These ratings should then be combined.

In most cases, multiple instances of skin damage caused by solar exposure are most appropriately assessed as part of the same injury. In this situation, each incidence of scarring should be given its own rating under 4.2, and ratings of multiple scarring locations combined to produce a 4.2 score, before combination with the 4.1. score takes place.

Where there is medical evidence that indicates that multiple incidences of a skin condition have discrete causes and damage, and the medical recommendations seem to indicate that they should be assessed as multiple discrete injuries, policy team are happy to review.
