The general procedures for PI claims are as follows: once a liability claim is accepted and the Benefit Election Form issued or a Needs Assessment undertaken, a client can indicate which of the range of benefits is sought. If the section for PI is chosen then arrangements are made for a medical examination using doctors trained in the PI concept and familiar with 'Part 2 – Defence Related Claims for Permanent Impairment' of the PI Guide. If the claimant has indicated on their claim form that they wish to claim a PI payment if their condition is accepted, the claims assessor can seek medical information about the PI claim at the same time they seek information about Liability.
