14.8.8 Approving a plan

The determination to approve a support plan, and thus funding under the Package, can only be made by a delegate of the Commission and must be advised in writing to the recipient, along with information regarding: how DVA will support the recipient to achieve their goals under their support plan, what information DVA may ask the recipient to provide, DVA’s expectations regarding the recipient’s engagement with DVA and their support plan, and a recipient’s review rights if they are unsatisfied with a decision DVA makes in respect of their support.

The delegate must make a determination regarding the support plan in a timely fashion to ensure support can commence as soon as possible. The case manager will guide the recipient to understand the plan and implement the supports.

Plans should be regularly reviewed to ensure the person is receiving the appropriate supports and their plan is helping them manage their life circumstances.
