9.7.6 Benefits for Partners and Dependants

Eligible dependants of deceased veterans who were eligible for the ADA at the time of their death or who has been eligible during some period of their life (or who were assessed posthumously as eligible for the ADA) may be entitled to:

• a Gold Card;
• wholly dependent partner periodic compensation;
• eligible young person payment; and
• access to the MRCAETS for any eligible young person.

Bereavement payments

Subsection 242(1)(a)(iv) of the MRCA enables a wholly dependent partner to continue receiving the deceased veteran's ADA payments for a period following their death. The payments are intended to assist the partner with adjusting to the new financial situation following the veteran's death.
