Dental malocclusion is acquired misalignment of contact between the upper and lower teeth sufficient to create problems and warrant treatment.

Clinical onset

Clinical onset will be when the condition first became symptomatic, or was first identified by a dentist.

Clinical worsening

For clinical worsening to develop there will generally need to be a new and different cause for the condition to that which caused initial clinical onset, rather than progression of the initial problem.
