Neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus
Sensorineural hearing loss - Neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus Factor
The RMA defines a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus as: "a primary or secondary neoplasm of the auditory nerve, inner ear, temporal bone, cerebellopontine angle or posterior cranial fossa."
Such primary neoplasms include acoustic neuroma (acoustic neurinoma, vestibular schwannoma, 8th nerve tumour), chemodectoma, squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and meningioma. Secondary tumours arise most commonly from adenocarcinoma of the breast in women and prostatic and renal-cell carcinoma in men. Symptoms may include vertigo, dizziness or unsteadiness, or an asymmetrical deafness.
If a veteran or member had a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus he or she would have needed significant medical attention.

Preliminary questions [14421]
14749 there is some evidence that a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.
14649 the veteran has suffered from a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus at some time.
14650 the veteran has suffered from a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body at some time.
14651 the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body is an illness which is identifiable.
14652 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and VEA service for sensorineural hearing loss.
14659 the veteran was suffering from the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, at the time of the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.
14653 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and VEA service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.
14655 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and operational service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.
or
14656 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and eligible service for the clinical onset of sensorineural hearing loss.
or
7334 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.
7335 the condition under consideration permanently worsened.
14660 the veteran was suffering from the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, at the time of the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.
14654 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and VEA service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.
14657 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and operational service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.
or
14658 the veteran has established the causal connection between the neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus and eligible service for the clinical worsening of sensorineural hearing loss.
Clinical onset and operational service [14655]
14661 the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.
Clinical onset and eligible service [14656]
14662 the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.
Clinical worsening and operational service [14657]
14661 the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.
14663 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, is causally related.
Clinical worsening and eligible service [14658]
14662 the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.
14664 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury, a neoplasm affecting the auditory apparatus of side and site of the body, is causally related.
