Intraocular surgery
Acquired cataract - Intraocular surgery Factor
Intraocular surgery includes any surgery that involves penetration of the eyeball. The most common example would be intraocular lens implant (IOL) surgery which is the standard treatment for cataracts. Pterygium surgery is not intraocular surgery as it is limited to the surface of the eye. Intraocular surgery is a major procedure that would be documented in medical records.

Preliminary questions [30853]
30854 there is some evidence that intraocular surgery may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.
4566 the veteran has had intraocular surgery at some time.
30855 the veteran has had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body at some time.
30863 the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body as a consequence of an illness or injury which is identifiable.
30856 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and VEA service for acquired cataract.
30857 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and VEA service for the clinical onset of acquired cataract.
30860 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and eligible service for the clinical onset of acquired cataract.
or
30859 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and operational service for the clinical onset of acquired cataract.
or
7334 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.
7335 the condition under consideration permanently worsened.
30858 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and VEA service for the clinical worsening of acquired cataract.
30862 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and eligible service for the clinical worsening of acquired cataract.
or
30861 the veteran has established the causal connection between intraocular surgery and operational service for the clinical worsening of acquired cataract.
Clinical onset and operational service [30859]
30868 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body within the 20 years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.
30869 the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.
Clinical onset and eligible service [30860]
39898 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body within the 10 years before the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.
30870 the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.
Clinical worsening and operational service [30861]
30864 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body within the 20 years before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.
30869 the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.
30871 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body, is causally related.
Clinical worsening and eligible service [30862]
39899 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body within the 10 years before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.
30870 the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.
30872 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury, for which the veteran had intraocular surgery to side and site of the body, is causally related.
