An infection involving the plantar fascia
Plantar fasciitis - An infection involving the plantar fascia Factor
The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue that runs along the bottom surface of the foot, attaching at the bottom of the heel bone and extending to the forefoot.
Infections that may involve the plantar fascia include:
- bacterial infections such as staphylococcus aureus
- fungal infections such as tinea (athlete's foot)
- mycobacterial infections such as tuberculosis and leprosy (Hansen's disease)
- secondary infections such as may be associated with diabetes mellitus or complications of surgery; and
- viral infections such as rubella virus or vaccine or parvovirus B19 (erythema infectiosum).
If the veteran had suffered from such an infection involving the plantar fascia, this history would have been identified by the doctor who diagnosed plantar fasciitis.

Preliminary questions [37731]
37732 there is some evidence that an infection involving the plantar fascia may be a factor in the development or worsening of the condition under consideration.
37895 the veteran has had an infection involving the plantar fascia at some time.
37733 the infection involving the plantar fascia affected side and site of the body.
37734 the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body as a consequence of an illness or injury which is identifiable.
37735 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and VEA service for plantar fasciitis.
37742 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body at the time of the clinical onset of the condition under consideration.
37736 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and VEA service for the clinical onset of plantar fasciitis.
37738 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and operational service for the clinical onset of plantar fasciitis.
or
37739 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and eligible service for the clinical onset of plantar fasciitis.
or
7334 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.
7335 the condition under consideration permanently worsened.
37743 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury, the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body at the time of the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.
37737 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and VEA service for the clinical worsening of plantar fasciitis.
37740 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and operational service for the clinical worsening of plantar fasciitis.
or
37741 the veteran has established the causal connection between the infection involving the plantar fascia and eligible service for the clinical worsening of plantar fasciitis.
Clinical onset and operational service [37738]
37744 the identified illness or injury, as a consequence of which the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.
Clinical onset and eligible service [37739]
37745 the identified illness or injury, as a consequence of which the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.
Clinical worsening and operational service [37740]
37744 the identified illness or injury, as a consequence of which the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body, is causally related to operational service.
37746 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury, as a consequence of which the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body, is causally related.
Clinical worsening and eligible service [37741]
37745 the identified illness or injury, as a consequence of which the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body, is causally related to eligible service.
37747 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury, as a consequence of which the veteran had an infection involving the plantar fascia of side and site of the body, is causally related.
