Pregnancy and childbirth

Depressive disorder - Pregnancy and childbirth Factor

For the purposes of the depressive disorder SoP, this refers to being in the second or third trimester of pregnancy (i.e. more than 3 months pregnant), or in the 1 year period following childbirth.

Childbirth (also known as labour) is the act or process of giving birth to a child.  There are 3 stages of labour - the first stage begins with the onset of regular uterine contractions and ends when the cervix is fully dilated, the second stage is the time from complete cervical dilation to delivery of the foetus and the third stage begins after delivery of the infant and ends with delivery of the placenta.
