Trauma to the lower limbs
Atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease - Trauma to the lower limbs Factor
Trauma for atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease
The RMA has not defined trauma in the SOP for atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease. However, relatively minor trauma such as injury by scissors during nail clipping can result in foot ulcers in patients with pre-existing peripheral vascular disease.
It is suggested that you seek medical advice if the evidence indicates that you should consider trauma as an aggravating factor.

PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS [9252]
9388 there is some evidence that trauma to the lower limbs may be a factor in the worsening of the condition under consideration.
9347 the veteran has suffered a trauma to side and site of the body at some time.
7334 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred after the end of the veteran's last period of VEA service.
7335 the condition under consideration permanently worsened.
9350 the veteran has established the causal connection between the trauma to side and site of the body and VEA service for the clinical worsening of atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease.
9351 the veteran has established the causal connection between the trauma to side and site of the body and operational service for the clinical worsening of atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease.
or
9352 the veteran has established the causal connection between the trauma to side and site of the body and eligible service for the clinical worsening of atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease.
CLINICAL WORSENING AND OPERATIONAL SERVICE [9351]
32533 on operational service, the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body.
32534 on operational service, in the course of operational service duties, the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body.
9354 on operational service, in the course of operational service duties, the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body before the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.
9353 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to the trauma to side and site of the body on operational service duties.
9357 the trauma to side and site of the body, on operational service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.
or
21028 the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body as a result of an illness or injury which is identifiable.
32535 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body before the clinical worsening of atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease.
9360 the identified illness or injury which caused the trauma to side and site of the body is causally related to operational service.
9362 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of operational service to which the identified illness or injury which caused the trauma to side and site of the body is causally related.
CLINICAL WORSENING AND ELIGIBLE SERVICE [9352]
32548 on eligible service, the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body.
32549 on eligible service, in the course of eligible service duties, the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body.
9356 on eligible service, as a causal result of eligible service duties, the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body prior to the clinical worsening of the condition under consideration.
9348 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to the trauma to side and site of the body on eligible service duties.
9358 the trauma to side and site of the body, on eligible service, was due to the veteran's serious default, wilful act or serious breach of discipline.
or
21028 the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body as a result of an illness or injury which is identifiable.
32535 as a consequence of the identified illness or injury the veteran suffered the trauma to side and site of the body before the clinical worsening of atherosclerotic peripheral vascular disease.
9361 the identified illness or injury which caused the trauma to side and site of the body is causally related to eligible service.
9363 the clinical onset of the condition under consideration occurred prior to that part of eligible service to which the identified illness or injury which caused the trauma to side and site of the body is causally related.
